Lifestyle Practice

I take health education one step further in bridging the gap between learning and doing. I’ll get out into the world with you and walk you through practices one step at a time, so you understand and feel capable to continue with the new target habit on your own.

Hiking Local Trails

We are blessed to live in an area with a plethora of breath-taking treks. The benefits to getting out of doors, under the sun and beautiful sky, breathing fresh air and experiencing wildlife are unfathomable. A lifestyle practice can add healing and quiet time to your self-care. By partnering with you from start to finish, we will remove the barriers that may have stopped you in the past; fear, not know where to start or how to pace yourself, or just not wanting to go alone.

Food Shopping and Preparing Delicious Meals

Eating particular foods at designated times in specific amounts is only one side of proper nutrition. Accompanying you to the best stores and/or Farmers Markets for the foods that work for your plan, and teaching you how to prepare them, will empower you with new skills and know-how to ensure your enjoyment, sustainability and success.

Background

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Education is a passion. I believe that the body is an engineering miracle: self-regulating, self-sustaining, self-healing and I feel privileged to get to steward one.

I see myself as a Trail guide, pointing out the important and memorable sights as we progress through your journey.

In high school I decided I wanted to study what I coined “The Chemistry of Motivation.” Even at that age I could see there was more to how we felt than just in our minds.

Because my family is prone to Obesity I was put on my first diet at age 10. You may remember it? The Stewardess Diet — lose 10lbs in 4 days! Fat was a slanderous word in our household as I was growing up…rather we said, a person was “Heavy.”

It’s hard for me to see anything or anyone in pain.

I lost my Father at 17 years young. I wasn’t done…he was my world. I hadn’t learned yet, that even with such a decimating tragedy life would still bring the greatest joys to come.

At age 9, I dreamed of being an Olympic gymnast. In high school, it was cross country that took my heart. As an adult, the regret of my athletic life was not playing soccer in college.

Secretly, when we travelled I pretended to be a pack mule to see how much of the family’s luggage I could carry. I liked the feeling of physical exertion. Only a trainer!

Even from my youngest memories of becoming aware of bodies I’ve love the human form. My first fascination was with beautiful knees.

It wasn’t until I was in my 30’s that I realized my easy-to-cry nature wasn’t shameful. In fact that High Antenna of Sensitivity has become a trait that enhances my role as a coach.

It wasn’t until my mid 40’s that I realized what a gift it is to feel so deeply that you’re eyes well up and your chest aches.

I am blessed with two sons. They’re both teenagers and they’re both goofy. One is white, one is black. One has skin and the other has fur. One I gave birth to, and one was born of another mother.

I would do what I do for free if our world didn’t work on money. It is my calling, not just a career.

My treasured daily hikes allow me time to pray, meditate and create. My training partner and body guard is a jet black, panther-sleek Tennessee Labrador named “Jaxx.”

I aim to start a revolution. High school is when we solidify our foundations and beliefs of how we should train, compete and care for our bodies, returning to these methods by rote at later stages. We need a new a paradigm for movement proficiency and self-care.

YOU are my blessing…
